New set up
Posted on 23/04/2012 by Dominique Marshall
The set up of the girls early years section has now changed slightly. The girls are training in their own age groups and are getting more developed and focused attention for their abilities which is enhancing their skills and developing them for next season.
All the coaches are extremley impressed with the progress that all players are making and with their dedication and commitment!
A big thank you must go to all the parents for bringing the players to training sessions.

Training
Posted on 20/02/2012 by Dominique Marshall
A lot of girls have been attending training over the past few weeks, which is great to see, although we do hope we can continue to add numbers over the next few weeks.
Just wanted to say a massive thank you to all the girls for turning up to training and to the parents for bringing them.
Well done to all the girls for learning new skills in training, listening to the coaches and practising their skills in matches.
A big thank you to Natalie who has been helping with the coaching as I am unable to coach at the moment due to my knee injury.
Another massive thank you to Carol who opens the kitchen during training and provides refreshments for all. Please continue to keep bringing your money and buying drinks off Carol and supporting the club.
We are still looking for new members, so if you know anyone, tell them to come down to training.

Wigan Under 9s v BCSC Under 9s
Posted on 19/11/2011 by Dominique Marshall
Wigan 1 BCSC 1
The girls travelled to WIgan keen to play some competitive football after having a week off last week.
The pitch at Wigan was, to quote Neo, "soggy and boggy." It ressembled more of a farmers field than a football pitch. BCSC are used to playing on top quality pitches so found the game difficult during the first half. Wigan had the better of the play, testing the BCSC goalkeeper on numerous occasions. BCSC tried passing an moving but the ball kept getting stuck and not making it to the intended person.
At half time, the girls were told to use their dribbling skills more and go on some runs. The girls lifted the tempo and started to play very well during the second half. WIgan then took the lead but BCSC kept their heads up and stuck to their gameplan, attack, attack, attack! It paid off when the ball broke from a Wigan attack and came to Molly, who dribbled from the half way line, into the box and scored from an acute angle. (Steve Kean - are you watching ? This is how football should be played!!!!)
The girls kept going and defended very well but we still had chances of our own, with Molly goig close again, as well as Jess Gornall and Rebecca.
Player by Player:
Ella - played in net for us and had a solid game, made some great saves.
Caitlin - started in defence and moved to midfield in second half, had a good game, made some great tackles and set up some good attacks.
Jess Gornall - started in defence, broke up Wigan's attacks and went close in the second half after an excellent run.
Rebecca - another consistent performance from Rebecca, very reliable, plays where you tell her to and always puts in 100%
Molly - Molly started in midfield and did very well for us, good when she gets on the ball and runs at people
Robyn - Captain for the day and did herself proud, communicated on the pitch and got stuck in even though she was a lot smaller than the Wigan players
Molly - played upfront, keen to get involved with the play and ran her socks off to help her team mates, forced to stay in oppositions half in second half otherwise she wouldn't get any spending money, but the threat paid off as she went onto score a fantastic goal
Neo - Neo is very reliable, she does whatever you tell her to, to the best of her ability. Neo made some great tackles and went on some good runs.
Jess Gibson - Jess had an excellent game making some very, very good tackles. She has come on tremendously!
Players of the game : the Gibson twins (I couldn't separate them, they both had excellent games!
Finally, thanks to the parents/relatives for travelling over, supporting and encouraging the team. I really appreciate it, I really anjoyed today and hope you all did too - see you all at training! Dom
Friendly

We decided to get the girls together on Saturday to play a friendly match, it was the first match some of the girls had ever played in. The pitches were in great condition and the girls were very excited not to mention the parents and coaches!
We split the girls into two teams, the yellows and the blues. The blues had the better of the first half with Molly H and Jessie scoring some of the goals. The yellow team fought back in the second half with Keeley scoring a goal after a mistake from the goalkeeper 'Big Jess'.
It was great to see all the girls trying so hard, all the girls put in a good performance and played some good pass and move football. Below is a player by player summary:
Rebecca Lord - Rebecca is a very influential pleyer and always gives 100%, she helped out the younger ones and tracked back when needed.
Emma Lord - Emma played in defence and made some great tackles. Emma reads the game very well considering her age.
Molly Aspin - Molly had a go in midfield and upfront and played well, she plays well with the ball at her feet when she has the opportunity to run at people.
Molly H - Molly is a great addition to the early years/under 9s section, she helps out the younger players and isn't greedy. She reads the game very well and is a fantastic passer of the ball, and has an eye for goal too (Jason Roberts needs to watch you play and learn from you!)
Megan - Megan is a new addition also but you wouldn't know it. She has blended into the squad very well, Megan communicates very well and scored some goals too. Megan gets into space and isn't afraid to tackle.
Jessie - Jessie is one of our younger players but isn't scared of playing with the older girls. Jessie stays in position, shouts for the ball and this paid off when she scored two goals in this match.
Keeley - Keeley is another younger player but she really gets stuck in. She isn't afraid to give orders and she tells players what to do (A future captain maybe?) Keeley will chase the ball all day long!
Amelia Bleasdale - Amelia is a fantastic player who reads the game really well. She has the ability to know where the ball is going and gets herself into that position. She played some great balls to her teammates and tracked back and marked up amazingly well - I sometimes forget that she is only 6/7 with the way she plays!
Caitlin - Caitlin never complains and alwayd does what you tell her to. She is a joy to coach and manage. Caitlin is excellent with the ball at her feet and makes some fantastic tackles!
Jess Gornall - Jess is another player who isn't greedy and always looks for a pass. She helps out the younger players and is a great tackler.
Kayleigh - another new player who is a good passer and communicator, good with the ball at her feet and isn't scared to make a tackle. Scored in this game too.
Ellie - Ellie gives 100% when she is on the pitch. SHe chases the ball, gets stuck in and plays passes out of defence and makes it look so easy!
Naimh - Naimh always gets stuck in and plays with a smile on her face. Naimh always looks for a pass and gets herself into space.
Robyn - Robyn us fantastic with the ball at her feet. She is very determined and always fights to win the ball back for her team, she is very strong for a girl of her size.
Finally, thank you to all the parents/relatives who bring the girls to every training session and match and stay to encourage and support, it is very mmuch appreciated!!!!
Under 9s V Wigan
Posted on 24/09/2011 by Dominique Marshall
This was BCSC Girls under 9s second game together. From the very first whsitle, the girls put into practice what they had learned in training asnd it was clear for all to see that the girls had listened and learned a lot.
The first half was very close but Blackburn broke the deadlock when Jess Gornall went on a mazy run, taking on 4 Wigan players before placing the ball into the top right hand corner - a great run and definitely deserved a goal!
Blackburn made it 2-0 when Rebecca Lord shot into the net.
Half Time 2 - 0
Blackburn were told at half time to continue passing the ball, communicating and looking for space (which were the aims for the game).
This is certainly what Blackburn did. Blackburn kept the tempo up and scored three more goals - all from Rebecca Lord.
Kiera started in net and in all fairness, didn't have much to do. At half time, she came out of net to play upfront and made Rebecca's second goal!
Jess Gornall started in defence before moving into midfield and made some fantastic runs as well as making some great tackles.
Caitlin started in defence and commanded the defence. She soon moved into midfield but ran her socks off, helping out in defence and attack.
Leigha played in midfield and made some great tackles. She protected her defence and passed the ball well.
Neo was captain for the day and encouraged everyone. She played in midfield and always tried to win the ball back. Her passing is improving and her tackling was great today.
Rebecca scored some great goals and could have had more! She helped out the defence and made some great passes.
Ella Gibson started her first game for BCSC and started upfront. This was an unfamiliar position but she did really well. She had chances to score and passed to her team-mates too. Ella went in net in the second hald and made saves that even Paul Robinson would have been proud of!!!
Jess Gibson did really well when she came on and dod really well in both defence and midfield. She read the game well and made tackles when she needed too.
It was a great performance from all the girls, everyone passed, communicated, marked up and worked hard for each other. The girls are all turning up to training, listening and learning and enjoying themselves!!!
Thanks to all the parents for bringing the girls, supporting the team throughout and helping putting all the equipment away - I really appreciate it!!!
Lastly, Dom's Player of the Game = Caitlin (for her hard work, communication, non stop running, great tackles and listening to what I wanted her to do and doing it fantastically well) WELL DONE TO EVERYONE THOUGH AND THANK YOU!!!
Under 9s V Blackpool FC
Posted on 17/09/2011 by Dominique Marshall
This was BCSC Under 9s girls' first match together as a team. They had previously only trained together once.
The girls were very excited as they put on their brand new kits in the changing groups and couldn't wait to get down to the pitch.
Blackpool had been together as a team for quite a while so it was always going to be a tough game. Blackpool started well and went 2-0 up within the first five minutes. At half time, it was 5-0 to Blackpool.
The half time team talk focussed on the positives and the girls seemed to respond to this; we changed the team around and in the second half, we had more possession, passed the ball well and defended really well as a team.
Kiera made some great saves in net, Jess Gornall made some really good last ditch tackles playing in an unfamiliar defensive role, Leigha played well in defence chasing the ball and closing down the opposition, Neo did really well and never stopped shouting and encouraging, which was really good to hear! Naomi started in net, and moved upfront in the second half and almost scored, Caitlyn also played in an unfamiliar role in defence and was fantastic and seemed like a natural defender, Robyn made some good runs and never stopped running to try and get the ball back and Rebecca started in defence making some good tackles but moved into midfield in the second half and was our driving force, breaking up attacks, making runs and almost scored.
I was really impressed with the performance and attitude of the girls - it will take time for all the girls to get to know eachother and learn to play with eachother, but the basis is there! WELL DONE EVERYBODY!!
Thank you to all the girls who played and to parents for bringing the girls and supporting and encouraging!
Dom's Player of the Match :- Jess Gornall (for playing in an unfamiliar position, encouraging team mates and making some great last-ditch tackles)
BCSC Girls V Bury
Posted on 17/07/2011 by Dominique Marshall
This was the girls' first match as Blackburn Community Sports Club. We braved the weather and travelled over to Bury. All the girls were really excited, they got to put their new kits on and play in their first football match!
The girls started brightly with Jess Gornall making some great runs and Rebecca Lord breaking up the attacks. After a few minutes, BCSC took the lead and the goals just kept coming. Robyn Drinkwater showed her versatility by playing in defence, midfield and upfront! Naomi played in goal and made a great save, then played in midfield while Leah took over in net. Kate Brown played well in midfield, stopping their attacks. Amelia B did really well - she never stopped running!!! When the other team were attacking, she ran back and tackled and won the ball back. Amelia T was good too, a great little dribbler! Naimh had only just joined BCSC but played in the game and did really well. Ellie and Molly played really well in defence along with little Jess.
WELL DONE TO ALL THE GIRLS -IT WAS A GREAT RESULT AND PERFORMANCE - I AM SURE WE WILL HAVE MORE FRIENDLY MATCHES AND GET TO PLAY MORE FOOTBALL AND HAVE FUN! A MASSIVE THANK YOU TO PARENTS FOR BRINGING THEIR CHILDREN WEEK IN, WEEK OUT. REMEMBER: TRAINING IS NOW 7PM - 8PM AT QEGS SPORTS ALL - THE MORE, THE MERRIER! BCSC Girls u9s v Golbourne Girls u9s

This was the girls' first match for a while. All the girls were keen and eager to start playing. Beth Turner, who is interested in managing the girls had come down to join in and watch. Unfortunately, whilst warming the girls up, Beth turned her ankle and the ambulance had to be called for.
The girls didn't let this deter them and they carried on warming up and preparing as usual. Due to the lack of our usual goalkeeper, the girls were told they all had to go in net for a few minutes each.
The girls started the game very well and within moments found themselves 1-0 up. All the girls had the chance to play in different positions, which they enjoyed. The girls all attacked as a team and defended as a team and this set them up in good stead to go and score more goals. The effort and determination shown by all the girls was great.
Neo volunteered to go in goal first and was enjoying so much decided to stay in net. She made some good stops, delivered the ball well and communicated with her team mates. She also played upfront in the second half, showing her versatility, held the ball up well and set up the chance for Rebecca to score.
Rebecca started in midfield and scored quite a few goals - I hope she isn't charging Mum and Dad money to score as they would have been paying out a lot after this game! Rebecca typified everything we had been working at over the course of the season, hard work, determination, the ability to mark up, pass the ball and shoot. Rebecca had it all in this game!
Jess Gornall was another who typified this int his game- she was phenomenal!
Jess got forward when she could and at one point she was the furthest player forward but still managed to get back and put in a goal saving tackle. Jess definitely deserved a goal qand was unlucky not to get one, one chance was stopped on the line, she grazed the post twice and the goalkeeper made two stops to prevent her from scoring.
Caitlin worked hard in defence then got the opportunity to play in midfield. She got forward well and defended well. She had some opportunities to score too and was unlucky not to.
Molly Aspin played in the unfamiliar position on the left of midfield but worked hard, listened to what was aked of her and did it.
Leigha started in midfield and worked really hard, she set up some of our chances and when she played in defence she stopped anything and everything that got in her way. Her positioning was excellent!
Naomi played upfront and scored a few girls. Naomi got back to help her team mates when she could.
Although this was an excellent peformance and a great scoreline, there is always room for improvement. We just need to try and get into space more, and decide whether to shoot or pass when we get near the opposition goal - sometimes, we were trying to walk the ball into the net butif we had passed the ball to someone in a better position, we could have scored.
OVERALL, AN EXCELLENT PERFORMANCE, VERY PROUD OF THE GIRLS. I THINK THE PERFORMANCE SHOWED HOW FAR WE HAVE COME SINCE THE START OF THE SEASON - MARKING UP IS NOW MUCH BETTER, WE ARE MARKING UP INSTINCTIVELY, OUR ATTACKING AND DEFENDING IS MILES BETTER.
THANK ONCE AGAIN FOR THE TREMENDOUS SUPPORT FROM PARENTS AND TO THE GIRLS FOR PUTTING IN LOTS OF EFFORT!!!
WE WISH BETH A SPEEDY RECOVERY AND ADVISE HER NOT TO GO FALLING IN ANY MORE DITCHES !!!
Player of the Game - I could not decide between the two, so I've picked two REBECCA AND JESS GORNALL
