Bispham Juniors v Blackburn CSC Red
Return leg from our earlier encounter of Bispham in early September.
Starting line up was Shannon in net, Ellie left back, Amy centre back, Emma right back, centre mid Grace, Left mid Zaynab, right mid Amber, and Chloe up Front.
We could only muster up 8 Girls for the return clash with Bispham, only after a late signing of a new goalkeeper Shannon.
We started quite brightly spreading the ball about with confidence and panache, retaining the ball was the order of the day. Grace was in the form of her life, moving over to our touchline, she passed the ball down the line for herself then ran around the other side of the advancing Bispham Midfielder. She continued her run down the line throwing three stopovers blowing the mind of the defender, Grace carried on dancing down the touchline leaving girls in her wake. All the parents where gobsmacked with the amazing show of football ability, from such a talented girl. We where pushing for a goal, the ball was switched from the right midfield through the middle across to the left wing, Zaynab playing the ball in the middle for Amber to Smash one right at the keeper who found it to hot to handle and it trickled over the line. A second goal came shortly after with Chloe working her magic down the left hand side and firing one towards goal from the edge of the box swerving round the keeper and hitting the post and coming out, Zaynab had read the play and was following up and smashed in the ball into an empty net. Bispham decided that they would have to change tack slightly and decided to man mark Grace who was running the show. At times it was at boiling point as both central midfielders wouldn’t give each other anytime on the ball without the other challenging them. At times this was overlooked on various occasions by the ref only adding to the girls frustrations on both teams. Never the less we pushed on for more goals, Grace being the better in midfield again and pushing the ball into the corner of the net for 3 nil. Bispham started to push the ball down both wings with Ellie and Emma staying strong and not giving the attackers any time on the ball by clearing the ball out of defence mainly passing to our team rather than out of play something we have been practicing in training, passing under pressure. Bispham passed a ball down the middle of the field and the centre forward ran through the middle and slotted the ball home to make it 3-1. Bispham started to assert pressure and the extra man started to tell in midfield, but Amy and Emma started to read the game and started jumping in front of the attackers and pinching the ball and passing to our midfield breaking the play up. In the first half there was various times when the defenders stood strong and held a high defence position allowing the attackers to run offside.
Half time team talk was quite an easy talk more of the same and a quiet word with Grace, who was not getting the projection she deserved from the ref. She was told that she could punish Bispham through football and football alone. This gave her more determination right from the whistle, with fantastic passing and moving from Amber and herself with one touch football. A long kick from Shannon, one bounce to Grace who was running down the left. Grace then with a side foot shot over the advancing goalkeeper from 25 Yards out 4-1. Bispham tried to applying pressure from the restart but the defence was to strong again, quickly and efficiently dealt with every situation that came their way. Another kick over the top from Shannon was met by Grace again who played a ball into the middle to Amber who gave Grace the return, Grace’s first instinct was to shoot over the top of the keeper for a carbon copy of Grace’s second goal 5-1. Chloe was trying again to get into the goal scored act, but time after time the goalkeeper was very brave and kept coming out to Chloe feet and smothering the ball. This continued to happen again and again frustrating Chloe more and more, making her shoot from outside of the box again with no joy. Amber decided that she would get in the act of shooting and she blasted three goals in as many minutes to get the score to 8-1. Ellie swopped positions with Amber for a few minutes. Grace was running down the left touchline and spotted Ellie running right into the middle she crossed with a weighted pass but Ellie just wasn’t quick enough to connect. Chloe was getting more and more frustrated after running down the right hand touchline, skipping over tackles and past defenders, she ran along the dead ball line and from impossible angle shot past the advancing keeper. Making the final score 9-1 a well deserved win a brilliant effort from all the girls. Bispham voted Shannon our man of the match and our girls voted Bispham’s goal keeper man of the match. Cheers Robert

Blackburn CSC Reds v Great Harwood Girls

Blackburn CSC Red v Great Harwood
We started with only 9 girls, they either had commitments or were playing for the under 13’s.
Once the whistle had gone the girls where straight into their stride, passing the ball all over the pitch from side to side. Neeve started very bright running through the middle and sliding the ball past the keeper. Grace push up at every opportunity and after a one two with Zaynab, passed the ball through for Chloe to fire home. Neeve again ran through the middle unchallenged and slotted the ball home into the same corner to make it 3 nil. Amber was struggling with a injury so we swapped Ellie to play right midfield. Grace was winning everything in midfield, after a quick one two with Zaynab, Grace fires in a cross from the touchline that sails across the 6 yard box, Chloe misses the cross, but Ellie is running in at the back post and only manages to get her laces on the ball, not enough to put the ball into the empty net. Neeve once again starts a run from midfield and unleashes a thunderbolt right into the top corner 4 nil. The Great Harwood central midfielder see Katie off her line and tries an ambitious 40 Yard shot, it looks like its just about to dip under the bar, then Katie just manages to push the ball over the bar for a corner. H.T big praise for the girls commitment, and their work rate. Told the girls to have a few long range shots in the second half as the wind will be behind them. The second half started with the same formation and the same commitment from the girls, everyone could tell that all the girls were really enjoying themselves. We started scoring straight away again through the middle where Neeve once again ran right through the middle and slotted the ball nicely home in the other corner this time. Chloe managed to score two more goals with sheer hard work and determination of running along the line and staying onside. Grace starts to get into the goal scoring habit and scores two great goals. But there is still time for more goals again great passing across the field from Zaynab, into the middle for Grace who pass the ball through to Neeve who slots the ball home. Great Harwood are becoming more and more frustrated, as our girls are to strong in every department. Amber decides she wants some shooting practice and fire in a shot just inside the post from 20Yrds out. Two minutes later she decides she will try again this time from a bit further out, the same conclusion another goal for Amber. As the last few minutes tick away Neeve manages to score two more goals ending the game with 7 goals. The game ended 14-0. Our girls voted the Great Harwood keeper Georgina Bolton and the Great Harwood team voted Neeve as our man of the match.Robert

Blackburn CSC Red v Bispham Girls

Our first game of the season was on our new home pitch with blue markings. This originally confused the girls, but we soon got into our rhythm. We started quite brightly up front with Chloe come close a few times. The Bispham goalkeeper started making a few good saves from Megan and again from Grace. Then the deadlock was broken by Megan who was our cornertaker, she sailed a ball in about waist height, it just took a slight deflection into the far corner blackburn reds one nil to the good. We continued to constanly put pressure on them within two minutes we are three up, with Grace scoring a fantastic 25 yard shot that no goalie in the league could of get near, never mind stop it from nestled in the top corner. Megan was not to be out done by Grace, Megan took the ball from Grace passed the ball out to Olivia, who passed it back to her she dropped her shoulder and let loose with a fantastic left foot strike from 25 yards out the goalkeeper never moved. On the rare occasion that Bispham ventured near to our goal area the defence stayed strongand focused, a few times even came out of defence with the ball at their feet, playing the football that we teach in training, nice to watch. Bispham couldn't live with the pressure that was being put on them and they constantly realied upon their goal keeper that kept pulling off fantastic save after fantastic save. When half time approached we where 5 nil up. The girls came over for a well deserved drink on such a hot day. The team talk just consisted of well done girls there is more goals in this game for us, just keep the pressure on. The girls carried on with the same conviction they did from the first half, we settled really well with Jade on her debut getting an easy tap in. Megan and grace were pulling the strings in midfield and muscling the bispham girls off the ball at every opportunity. Megan continued to apply pressure and added her third goal a fantastic hatrick. Grace was everywhere she took the ball from the half way line beat three Bispham players and let loose with a thunderbolt that hit the post and cross bar at the same time, and all the goalkeeper could do was duck out of the way. Half way through the second half, I put Jade in net allowing Katie.M the rare opportunity to play out field, Katie.M played at centre half for twenty minutes and at times, this looked like her natural postion, leaping like a salmon and winning headers. Overall i'm a very happy manager, the girls more than deserved their win from a wonderfully committed team. A real pleasure to watch from my stand point and all the parents including the Bispham parents. The girls voted Bispham goalkeeper man of the match, and Bispham voted Grace our man of the match. lets hope that we carry this determination on right throughout the season, Robert

Pendle Forest 1st round cup match

Posted on 30/11/-1 by Rob Mckenna

We knew it was going to be a tough game, we had only managed to get 8 girls for this big game against a stiff opponent. We beat them 6-1 last week in the league, but the cup is a different game altogether. We tried firing the girls up from the start, but it was difficult right from the start. Pendle pressured us right from the begining, but we absorbed the pressure and seemed to grow in confidence. Great involvement and passing and moving from Amber and Grace in midfield, with Zaynab busting down the right flank. Chloe the lone striker finding it tough being closely marked out of the game as her marker was very strong in all her actions. The break through finally came after a quick throw-in the ball came to Grace, as she dropped her shoulder and feined to go one way she went the other way and started to cut in. She crossed with her left foot and Zaynab leap in the air like a salmon swimming up stream, and headed right into the top corner 1 nil to Blackburn reds. Pendle took the game to us then with more urgency and they only found our goalkeeper Shannon in great form again. But Pendle kept coming at us and they kept winning corners with amber on the front post winning the vast majority of headers and clearing up field away from danger. But they kept getting more corners. This one cleared Amber and was headed straight past Shannon 1-1 game on. Half times team talk was keep the pressure on and get more shots away, shoot from distance and follow the shots. The second half started at the same pace, we then when in full mode attack. But Pendle where very good at the back and kept us out of the penalty area and we where restricted to shooting from outside the box. Then good work from Chloe she dragged the centre half out towards the corner flag, played a nice ball in for Amber to blast the past the keeper 2-1 Blackburn reds. We kept the pressure on and tried for a third goal to make the game safe. Amber and two fantastic strikes both aiming for he top corner and the Pendle goalkeeper made two fantastic saves getting firm hands behind Ambers shots. We started to play a high line, this worked at it restricted Pendle to shot from distance. Everytime Shannon was a match to every shot. With minutes to go Pendle get two corner the first one gets cleared. Then the second one passes over the first defenders head and a lucky Pendle forest knee-cap appears from nowhere, its now 2-2. Final whistle goes. The girls come over and think thats it, till we tell them its extra time 5 minutes each-way. The girls have played there heart out, and a few are now playing with niggling injuries. We start the extra time in blistering form, grace wins the ball on the half way line, she jinks past two players as if they are not there, then releases a thunderess shot that is going in the bottom corner. The goalkeeper dives full length and just manages to push the ball around the post. Pendle forest are put under the cosh again and again. The whistle goes ht extra time a quick turn around and away we go again. This half the girls are going all out for the win, we bombard the Pendle forest keeper from all angles and she is really up it everything that is thrown to her. Till amber runs from the half way line passes to Chloe who has dragged the centre half out of position towards the corner flag, and she lays a sweet ball back to Amber who beats two girls and smashes the ball past a helpless keeper. AN AMAZING FINISH!!!! There is only minutes to play and we do what we have to do to stop Pendle from attacking our goal we defended as if our lives depend on it. The ref finally after playing 8 minute in the second half of extra time to blow that whistle. What a relief for our girls, their smiles are back.the game was thoroughly enjoyable match for both sets of parents and neutral spectators. The Pendle forest girls voted Amber as man of the match, in my opinion we had 8 man of the matches. A true gritted performance from both sets of girls. A real advertisement for girls football. You have made John and myself very proud men. Roll on the next round. Thanks again girls Rober
